The program that's available for free on the Iicons8 website allows users to make and place their own Icons, a type of desktop icon which often takes up far less space than normal icons and is more eye catching and unique. This application was developed by Chris Freville who worked as a graphic designer for several years before he found himself interested in creating free icons for users to use on their computer. He developed the program in his spare time while working on other things, such as learning HTML, but it took him until recently to put it onto a site that allows others to download it for free and use it with no charge. To use the application you first download it from the Iicons8 site, follow the installation instructions and then let it get going by copying all of your My Widgets onto your desktop. After this is complete you can then drag and drop the icons on your desktop to where they will be displayed. You will need to be sure to have enough free space on your desktop to be able to see all of your icons at once, as otherwise some of them will be too large to see properly when you are working. Once you've got used to the way it works and are happy with the way they load up on your desktop, you can then start downloading other types of free Icons to place on your computer.
All that's left after downloading the program is to open up the My Widgets window if you haven't done so already, then click on the Download button. If you are new to Icons, it's recommended that you do this step as many times as is necessary for each application you wish to download. It is easy to find a place that offers free Icons online and most of the sites that offer free Icons have a quick download button you can click that will automatically save the icons to your computer. The application is very easy to use, and will allow you to create your own Icons if you like. If you are wondering how to change the actual files that make up an icon, the answer is simply to right click on the icon and click "Edit", then you'll see a blank window where you can type whatever text you want.
